Nostalgia Poems

Those Good old days

Whose that knocking at my door

is it that boy for another chore?

He brought me the milk and the bread

and said to me the eggs are laid

He gently gave a smile to me

and said he did it all for free.

Two Little Sisters

Hearts entwined and hands embraced

Dresses with ribbons and beautifully laced

The two little sisters at my door

Came to suprise me with joy on each face

A delicate rosebud they had picked from

my garden.......

Aside they did gently stride

"Come with us, we'll show you more"

Their voices were filled with innocent grace.

Little Girl in Pink

Cute little girl in your pretty frock

and pink satin ribbons on your curly locks.

You came to greet me and show me your gift__

the one that you're wearing

it is a nice fit.

With your pretty white bag

and your pretty white shoes.....

a charming bracelet of pink, white and blue.

A Sight to See!

I see in my garden those little bees

as they go from flower to flower

They're pollinating my plants as I sing

in my sun-room close by.

The butterflies there

they fly in the air

My heart takes wings

at the pleasures I see

They make me want to laugh and sing.

Two Little Feet

Two little feet, ten little toes,

Leave their impressions today.

Soon they will wear two little shoes,

And be running and jumping at play.

Two little feet, too little time,

Before they are walking to school,

Kicking a rock, or skipping a rope,

Wading a puddle or jumping a pool.

Two little feet, One little child,

Will soon go their own way,

But footprints in my mind recall,

They stood here yesterday.

It is Well

In sweet consolation

He stays by my side

He cares for me always and daily resides

The pleasures I've known since I've walked with Him

At their rememberance my heart

takes wings

He blesses me with His Presence Divine

And suddenly I feel that all is fine!

Little Bluebird

Dear little bluebird dressed in blue

Sweet little bluebird__ you sing a pretty tune.

I am so blessed to see you close by__

you come to greet me and pleasantly fly.....

Yes, you came today

in your sweet special way.

A Child I Saw

What golden locks were hers

A dress laced in ribbons

and sleeves that ruffled

And dainty feet in those little shoes.

The sun was shining the skies were blue

Never a day so sweet.

I came home feeling so complete

and in my heart I knew

God blessed me in a special way

to have memories like this__

rememberance of yesteryear.

Sally-Sue

Sally-Sue, the boys love you

They’re singing a bright new tune

“Her golden tresses and colorful dresses”

They’re smitten with love for you.

I hear them singing in the streets and calling out for you.

They even buy boxes of candy

To see this is very sweet.

Evening Hours

The dusk has little gateways

That lead to pleasant homes

Enveloped in the soft light

Before the darkness comes.

Each home is in a garden

Alight with vivid blooms,

And there are fragrant posies

In all the restful rooms.

They are so cool and quiet,

After the hectic day,

After the crowded hours

That rush us on our way.

Where we may turn to sit

And rest us in a leisure

The day could not permit.

Sweet Little Bird

In my garden, my nature garden

my companion waits for me.

This little bird, this sweet little bird

he frolics in the air__ then gently rests on me.

He plays in the birdbath and flutters and splashes

then suddenly dashes away__

till the next day, when he greets me again

Yes, truly this is my friend.

Wishful Longevity

Days of Yesteryear

The pleasures I saw

As I stepped out my door

The May-Poles down the street

I noticed they placed them all in a fleet

And it seemed to me there was more

"We're having a Celebration

Just for the month of May...."

Reflections of my Youth

Oh to be young and free

My hair flowing in the breeze

As I walked among those stately trees

As I strolled along those heavenly shores

As I ventured out of my front door

What wonderful days were these.

Carefree Days of my Youth

I like to reminisce

On those glorious days of my youth

A day never missed

I knew such bliss

Hours spent without care

were like fresh air

When the weather was fine

I spent my time

In adventure happy and free.

Friends Reflections

Valiant by the sea

when we ran young and free

Yes, in youth adorned

we would rise with the dawn

Yes, valiant we would be.

Recipe for Longevity

A year of quality sleep

to give myself that treat

To have a nourishing diet

and be eager to apply it

I'll have some healthy exercise

and try some new clothes out for size

Colors that will give me a lift

to suit me with a flattering fit

Remembering to be gracious

and refrain from being anxious

Mindful to have my rest

in Your Presence I am blessed

These are the things that I will do

to love myself like You want me to.

Hi, Baby Boomers!

I think I will go out for a walk in the Park

"Life be in it"__ I'll play my part

Life is not meant just for work

and endless chores that seem to lurk.

I'd like some refreshment

and less relentment

At the end of the day__

yes, that is the way

I'll go out to the beach

that would be a treat__

to walk by those shores

who could ask for more?

The Conquest of Time

that would be fine

There's things to ENJOY

I will start TODAY!

Loveliest of Trees

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now

Is hung with bloom along the bough,

And stands about the woodland ride

Wearing white for Easter-tide.

Now, of my three-score years and ten,

Twenty will not come again,

And take from seventy springs a score,

It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom

Fifty springs are little room,

About the woodlands I will go

To see the cherry hung with snow.

Fanciful Longevity

I'd be blessed if life were like this

such fantasy a reality__

That each year I would grow 5 years younger

These bonds of age to break asunder

My strength renewed to spring to my feet

To rest at night in perfect sleep__

to me these things would be a treat.

To plan my days and change my ways

Yes, I would be truly in bliss

if life were just like this.

Pleasant Dreams!

Grandparents Bestow

Grandparents bestow upon their grandchildren

The strength and wisdom that time

And experience have given them.

Grandchildren bless their Grandparents

With a youthful vitality and innocence

That help them stay young at heart forever.

Together they create a chain of love

Linking the past with the future.

The chain may lengthen,

But it will never part...

~Author Unknown~

Child of my child, Heart of my heart

Your smile bridges the years between us

I am young again …

discovering the world through your eyes

You have the time to listen

And I have the time to spend.

Delighted to gaze at familiar loved features…

made new in you again

Through you …I’ll see the future

Through me…you’ll know the past

In the present… we’ll love one another

As long as these moments last

Nan's Special Guests

Last week we went to Nana's place

her table was covered in vivid lace

She said she was saving it for quite some time

and now that we're growing up that will be fine

So now we are her special guests

we learn her etiquette, neatly dressed.

Our Lovely Nan

There's no-one like our lovely Nan

she makes us all feel special

on occasions meals are planned

a place is set for all her fans

Her stories are so plentiful

ones of yesteryear and all.
